Getting around in Harpenden - Transport through the Ages

An exhibition on 2 December 2017, drawing on Les Casey's files

By Rosemary Ross

John Marlow, Diana Parrott and Rosemary Ross found photos in the local history collection of Harpenden in the days of horse transport, horse-drawn delivery carts, early bicycles, motor-bikes, the first cars and the garages that sold and repaired them, motorised delivery vehicles, charabancs, coaches and buses, and of course the three railway lines serving Harpenden.  In addition there were panels on parking, traffic wardens, accidents, road maintenance and many unusual vehicles that have passed through.
